Spring Bitch!

March, are we done yet?

By T.S. Niebeling

The moth that is, said to come in like a lion and out like a lamb, has been leaving most of us MIA.  School is halfway over, heads are hung low praying for warm weather.  The ups and downs of weather patterns, temperature, the sun amplifying its heat and dissipating it at the same time to prolong the effects of snow has brought us to the brink.  Crime is going up, more bikes are coming out.  I can see the brown that was once green grass, popping through the white crystallized snow banks.  Where can we get a break from wanting summer?

Spring Break?  Spring Break seems viable for relieving the tension, yet is it long enough?  Along with Spring Break comes school, or rather coming back to school.  The cold weather hits the SB traveler in the face, warm weather is over.  Then, of all things a student in a relaxation trance doesn’t need, comes reading books they did not choose, taking tests they did not want to take, and doing homework.  Teachers need to be more lenient.  Who wakes up from a long night of rest to jump into a cold bath and have lights shined in their eyes?  No one.  We should, as a whole, ease back into the education thing.

A few good points to remember are:  we are over winter for the most part the weather is steadily getting better.  Secondly, it is technically April, and May is the last month of spring semester, so we are only one month away from summer break.  We will make it.

We get all the seasons in the Midwest so let’s utilize them to our advantage.  We all enjoyed the break that school, and spring weather has afforded us.  We are past the middle and relatively close to the end.  Enjoy the diversity of weather we have been blessed with and remember freedom and summer, and hopefully graduation are just around the corner.
